Personal Information

General Overview. Marrow Skeltr is a part of a female led, semi-nomadic tribe of werehyenas, known as the Scavenge Clan. Within the last decade, they made their way back to the Crescent City, taking up residence just outside New Orleans and coming into town to do business. One of their bigger money makers is a bar they opened up within the city limits. It’s popular amongst both the human and were crowds.

Marrow has a tense relationship, if you even want to call it that, with her Clan. She was always a headstrong, rebellious child. However, her reputation as the black sheep of the family culminated at the age of 15 when a fight with the alpha’s daughter ended in her father and brother getting exiled. It was that day, that moment of watching her father and brother getting beaten within an inch of their life before being tossed out, that forever changed her. It was that day when Marrow went rogue.

The moment she turned 18 she moved out, getting an apartment in New Orleans so that her Clan wasn’t constantly looking over her shoulder. Adamant that her Clan was hiding something, she began to gather intel against them and search in earnest for her father and brother. She grew to despise the people who once meant everything to her, and she drowned her pain and regret with violence, booze, drugs, and sex. At 21, she got a job at her Clan’s bar, which she had always been pretty active in the upkeep of anyways, as a bartender and the unofficial bouncer. It was just a coverup really. She knew in her gut that something shady was going on, and she to this day is still hellbent on unraveling that mystery.

Flaws And Weaknesses

Big-Mouthed Bitch. If Marrow had to be described in one word, it would be intense. There's nothing soft and sweet about her. Her tongue is as sharp as her teeth, and she has this whole "I have no fucks left to give" type attitude. More so, she has no filter. She says what she feels, when she feels it, which needless to say gets her in trouble more often than not. She goes through life like something akin to a bull in a China shop, seemingly not caring who she hurts in the process.

Livin' on a High. When Marrow’s not searching for her exiled brother and father, she is jumping from one high to another just to numb the pain of loss and regret. During the day she can’t go long without a drink or a smoke, and during the night, she frequents parties where she pops pills, gets too wasted to think straight, and usually ends up waking in a stranger’s bed. It’s a vicious cycle that she punctuates with acts of violence. She’s always getting into fights thanks to her temper and how much she loves the adrenaline rush it gives her.

The Animal Inside. Werehyenas are often thought to be more animal than man, and this couldn’t be closer to the truth with Marrow. Who she is revolves heavily around the hyena inside, her bestial urges often dictating what she does, where she goes, and how she feels. In the end, her humanity is basically just a backseat driver to the hyena’s show.

Emotional Rollercoaster. With many unresolved issues in her life, needless to say, she’s a bit unstable emotionally speaking, and as a werehyena, this can quickly turn volatile, leading to accidental shifting and animalistic outbursts. Worst case scenario, she could become permanently stuck in her hyena form. In a vain attempt to prevent this, she drowns herself in booze, drugs, and sex just to numb the pain.

Skills And Abilities

Quasi Immortal. Technically immortal, immune to the effects of illness and aging, and cannot die by any conventional means. Though shifters do not live forever, and typically last for several hundred years, the oldest known shifter being around 900 years old.

Powerhouse. Marrow may be small in stature, but don’t let this fool you into thinking that she can’t or won’t beat the crap out of you. Having grown up in an often volatile living situation, she learned from a young age how to hold her own in a fight, and she has the raw strength and stamina from her hyena side to back her up. And once she puts her mind to something, there’s really no stopping her.

Evil Eye. The ability to place a curse of misfortune or injury on someone through malevolent glare, usually manifesting when one looks at another with an envious eye. This isn’t really an ability she can control, but more of a side effect of being a werehyena.

Personal Attire

Normal Daily Wear. Grunge style fashion sense, often seen wearing ripped skinny jeans and graphic t-shirts paired with clunky boots, leather jackets, and bone jewelry

Alternate Wear. At the club, she tends to show more skin with crop tops and/or plunging necklines

Magical Artifacts/Weapons

Silver Throwing Knives. As she began to realize that her brother and father had gotten themselves into some deep shit, she acquired a set of silver throwing knives to keep with her at all times for added protection against other weres.

Introduction Written by Scribe

I wipe down the glass, before setting it on the rack along with the others. Flicking the towel over my shoulder, I look back out the kitchen window at the crowded bar. Customers have been steadily pouring in, and I am hardly a couple hours into my eight hour shift. This is going to be a long night, I think to myself with a sigh. I move to take care of the incoming dirty dishes when I catch the sound of an altercation with my attuned hearing.

“Leave me alone.” I hear a woman, desperation creeping into her voice.

“Oh come on, dance with us, sweet cheeks.” I slam a glass down on the countertop, shattering it as I pick out the sounds of two men with her.

“No, just leave me alone!” I whip around, my hackles raising. That’s all I need to hear. I toss my towel in the hamper and throw open the kitchen door, nearly hitting a patron in the process. I hardly hear them cussing me out as my gaze searches the crowd for the woman and her harassers. A low rumbling growl bubbles up from me as I spot them at the edge of the dance floor, the men circling her like vultures around a kill. I storm across the room, shoving people out of my way.

“Oh here we go. Anyone want to take bets on how long they last this time?” I hear the murmurs amongst the bartenders, but I ignore them, my heated gaze locked on my targets.

“Is there a problem here?” I demand as I come to a stop in front of them. One of the men opens his mouth like he’s about to answer for the woman, but I cut him off. “I wasn’t talking to you!”

My gaze softens marginally as I meet the woman’s. She nods her head meekly. “Y-yes, they keep trying to get me to dance, but I-I don’t want to.” Her voice is so quiet and timid. It tugs at something within me and only serves to fan the flames of my rage. I grab her wrist, yanking her behind me, before really taking in the men for the first time. They’re burly fellows covered in tattoos and looking like they could belong to a motorcycle gang. They dwarf my scraggly 5’4” height and no doubt could easily hold their own in a fist fight. I can take them.

“I need you two to leave,” I declare. My lips twitch as they laugh in my face.

“Ahahaha nah, we’re good,” one of them says, as their bodies shake with laughter. I flash them a wicked grin that seems to throw them off guard.

“That wasn’t a request,” I exclaim, a moment before my closed fist connects with the first one’s gut. As he doubles over, I grab him by the arm and the back of the shirt and toss him clean across the room. Lesson number one: Never piss off a werehyena.

Screams and the sound of shattering glass fill the air as he crashes into an unoccupied table. I turn around, catching the other one’s fist as he tries to punch me. I twist his arm until I hear a pop and he cries out in pain. “I. Said. Leave!” I snarl.

His eyes widen in fear, my eyes no doubt having turned red in my rage. He stumbles away as I release him, and I watch with satisfaction as he grabs his friend and drags him out the door.

A whimper behind me grabs my attention. Glancing back at the woman, I see that her eyes are wide like saucers. “Stay close to your friends tonight,” I say in a gravelly voice, before heading for the back door. I desperately need to cool off.
